Kern & Sammet AG has been acquired by Mühle Leibstadt AG

The owners of Kern & Sammet AG have sold the company to Mühle Leibstadt AG, an optimal buyer that will guarantee the continuation of the business in the future. The two parties have agreed not to disclose any financial information about the transaction.

Kern & Sammet AG is one of the leading independent manufacturers of high-quality frozen bakery and confectionery products in Switzerland. These include various types of bread, snacks, desserts, pastries and cakes. Kern & Sammet distributes its product under its own brand and also through private label. Its customers include retailers, commercial bakeries and Horeca.

Mühle Leibstadt, the mother company of Knecht Mühle AG, is a privately held holding company active in the Swiss food industry. Knecht Mühle, founded in 1887 in Leibstadt in the canton of Aargau, is a leading Swiss wheat and specialty mill. The family-run business produces flour for the daily needs of over 400,000 people in a 24-hour operation using the most modern production facilities.

Knecht Mühle has been a supplier of Kern & Sammet for many years and can thus secure its sales channel. The transaction is in line with the company’ philosophy of investing in strong independent Swiss SMEs and strengthening Switzerland as a production location. Kern & Sammet will continue to operate as an independent company and will maintain its employees, management team and location.
