Birdstep Technology ASA has sold Birdstep Technology AB to Smith Micro Software, Inc. for US$2 million.

Based in Sweden, Birdstep Technology AB is a wholly owned subsidiary of Birdstep Technology ASA. The company's wireless network optimization solutions have been used by operators and OEMs to provision, analyze, select, control and commercialize Wi-Fi and cellular networks.

Smith Micro Software, Inc., founded in 1982 by William W. Smith, Jr., is a diversified developer and marketer of both enterprise and consumer kevel software and services. The company's network access, insights and optimization solutions ensure the best quality for wireless users, while embedded mobile software creates new opportunities for wireless service providers and B2C businesses to engage with consumers via smartphones.
