ebm-papst St. Georgen GmbH & Co. has acquired ZEITLAUF® GmbH antriebstechnik
The fan and motor producer ebm-papst St. Georgen GmbH & Co. KG (ebm-papst) has acquired the Franconian gearbox manufacturer ZEITLAUF® GmbH antriebstechnik & Co KG (Zeitlauf) for an undisclosed consideration.
With this acquisition, ebm-papst from St. Georgen in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, wants to strengthen its Industrial Drive Engineering division.
Zeitlauf was founded in 1957 and is located at the Franconian town of Lauf near Nuremberg. The production, which started with timers, developed into a range of planetary, spur gear, and angular gearboxes with crown technology as well as customized special solutions. The company focuses his activities on the following branches: access automation, public transportation, eco power and e-vehicles.
"The acquisition will enable us to offer optimized drive solutions comprising motor, gearbox and software-supported control technology in the future," explains Rainer Hundsdörfer, Chairman of the Board of Management of the ebm-papst Group. "The linkup with ebm-papst will enable us to build on and expand our technological leadership” said Thomas Horz, Managing Director of Zeitlauf.
Oaklins' team in Germany advised ebm-papst on the purchase process and identified Zeitlauf as the most appropriate target.
