Howard Serkin
Principal
Howard is advisory board chairman of Oaklins Heritage in Jacksonville and Savannah. Recent transactions he has advised on include the sale of AirPro Diagnostics, AQUAfin Swim Schools and McCurdy-Walden.
Prior to joining Oaklins Heritage, Howard served in various executive management positions with The Charter Company, a NYSE conglomerate with revenues in excess of US$5 billion and operations in insurance, energy and communications. Before this, he was executive vice president and director of Koger Properties, a NYSE developer, owner and manager of over 13 million square feet of suburban office buildings and parks located throughout the southeast. He directed the development of Koger’s reorganization plan which led to Koger’s successful emergence from bankruptcy. Howard served as the first executive-in-residence and visiting professor at the University of North Florida’s College of Business Administration, and has also lectured at Jacksonville University’s College of Business, the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore, India, the University of the South Pacific in Fiji and the Harvard Business School. He serves on the board of directors of numerous corporate entities, ranging from public companies to privately held operating companies to private equity investments to venture capital startups. Howard received his BS in Engineering from Georgia Tech, after which he served a four-year tour of active duty as a lieutenant in the US Navy, assigned to nuclear submarines and deep submergence rescue and salvage projects. He also earned his MS in Engineering and received his MBA in Finance from Harvard Business School. He pursued postgraduate studies at Oxford, Cambridge and the London School of Economics.
