Roman Debald
Managing Director
Roman is a managing director at Oaklins Germany with more than 17 years’ experience in M&A and corporate finance advisory. He has successfully led numerous national and international transactions, advising both buy-side and sell-side clients, and has extensive expertise in financial restructurings. His client portfolio ranges from midsize businesses, often family-owned, and publicly listed corporations to private equity firms, startups and family offices. In addition to company sales, Roman has advised on several carveout transactions involving the divestiture of non-core business units from industrial groups, both in Germany and internationally. He has deep industry knowledge in the industrials sector, with a particular focus on automotive, automation, industrial technologies, safety technology, chemicals, metal processing, aerospace, packaging and building materials. At Oaklins Germany, Roman is responsible for the safety and security sector, which includes electronic access control, locking systems, building technology, security services, video surveillance, biometric security systems and personal protective equipment. Recent transactions under his leadership include the sale of Vision-Box to Amadeus IT, the sale of TMD Friction to AEQUITA, the sale of a catalyst production site by BASF to ASC Investment, the acquisition of U-Power by NB Renaissance and the sale of VTI Ventiltechnik to Pinova Capital.
Prior to joining Oaklins, Roman spent over 17 years at Houlihan Lokey and its predecessor firm Leonardo & Co. (formerly Drueker & Co.) in Frankfurt and Paris. He studied industrial engineering, with a focus on mechanical engineering, at the Technical University of Darmstadt and at Université Montesquieu Bordeaux IV, graduating with a degree in industrial engineering (Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur).
