T Brewer & Co Ltd has been acquired by Grafton Group plc

The private shareholders of T Brewer & Co Ltd (T Brewer) have sold the company to Grafton Group plc. Financial details have not been disclosed.

T Brewer was founded over a hundred years ago and has grown into the leading specialist timber merchant serving the central London construction market. London is by far the most valuable region in the UK for regeneration and property development, with a total construction output in the capital in 2014 estimated to be worth US$40 billion, over 20% of the UK total.

Grafton Group plc is predominantly a UK and Ireland-based building materials group with 600 branches and a turnover of over US$2.8 billion. The group operates in the merchanting, DIY retailing and mortar manufacturing markets.

Oaklins Smith & Williamson, based in the UK, advised the seller in this transaction.
