Elverys Sports has been acquired by the management team

Staunton Sports has sold Elverys Sports to the company's management team. Financial details have not been disclosed.

Elverys is a retailer of sporting goods and equipment, with over fifty stores across the country and a growing online presence. The business employs 650 staff. Founded in 1847 with a single shop in Dublin city center, Elverys is Ireland’s oldest sports retailer. Following a 1998 takeover by the highly respected Staunton Sports, Elverys has blossomed to become Irelands most loved sports retailer.

Elverys' management team was led by the company's CEO, Patrick Rowland.

Staunton Sports is controlled by the Staunton family, who have interests in retail and property investments.

Oaklins' team in Ireland valued the company, assessed the offers received, negotiated the deal on behalf of the shareholders and managed the transaction.
