AES Andes has sold 100% of Empresa Eléctrica Ventanas to Quintero Energía

Aligned with its transformational strategy toward a renewable portfolio, AES Andes has successfully completed the sale of Empresa Eléctrica Ventanas to Quintero Energía.

Empresa Eléctrica Ventanas is a subsidiary of the AES Gener Group. It operates the Ventanas 537 MW coal-fired thermoelectric power station, located in the Puchuncaví commune in the Valparaíso region of Chile. Ventanas employs state-of-the-art technology to minimize its atmospheric emissions, including semi-dry desulfurization equipment to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions, a bag filters system that captures 99.9% of particulate matter (PM) and adjustable tangential coal burners that reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) generation.

Quintero Energía is a consortium of Chilean partners with experience in the energy sector both in Chile and abroad.

AES Andes is one of the leading power generation companies in the region, with operations in Chile, Colombia and Argentina. It operates a diversified portfolio totaling 5,657 MW across hydroelectric, wind, solar, energy storage, natural gas and coal power plants. Additionally, the company has an extensive portfolio of renewable energy projects under development.
