Pesquera Exalmar has acquired Pesquera Centinela from Grupo Romero.

Founded over 30 years ago, Pesquera Exalmar is the third-largest company in Peru’s fishing industry. It operates across both the indirect human consumption (IHC) and direct human consumption (DHC) segments, with a fleet of 27 vessels and five processing plants along the Peruvian coast. As of the end of 2024, the company led national production of fishmeal and fish oil, holding an 18% market share.

Founded in 1995, the Peruvian company Pesquera Centinela specializes in the extraction and processing of fish to produce fishmeal, fish oil and products intended for direct human consumption. The company operates a fleet of 11 owned vessels with a total holding capacity of 3,400 m³, as well as three production plants located in Chimbote, Chancay and Tambo de Mora. Together, these facilities offer a combined processing capacity of 245 metric tons per hour.

Grupo Romero is one of Peru’s most prominent business conglomerates, with a legacy spanning over 135 years. It has a strong presence across key sectors such as agribusiness, consumer goods, logistics, transportation, energy and financial services. Its portfolio includes leading companies like Alicorp, Ransa, Primax and Banco de Crédito del Perú, through its stake in Credicorp. The group is firmly committed to innovation, sustainability and contributing to Peru’s economic and social development.

Oaklins’ team in Peru acted as the buy-side advisor in the transaction, providing support with valuation, due diligence and negotiation of the sale and purchase agreement (SPA).
