Big Universe has been acquired by Fuel Education

Big Universe has been acquired by Fuel Education (FuelEd), a subsidiary of K12 Inc. Financial detail shave not been disclosed.

Founded in 2007, Big Universe provides schools with a comprehensive literacy solution featuring a ready-made library of thousands of leveled eBooks from well-known publishers. The platform supports balanced literacy programs with integrated tools such as embedded assessments, a student recommendation engine, analytics to demonstrate reading growth, and engaging reading practice opportunities. Today, Big Universe is used in more than 900 schools where it is available to more than 700,000 students and 50,000 teachers to augment classroom activities. Big Universe will be available in the US exclusively through FuelEd. The founder and staff will remain in the company.

FuelEd is a leading provider of online and blended learning solutions to more than 2,000 school districts across the US. FuelEd has one of the industry’s largest portfolios of K12 online courses, instructional, professional learning and consulting services, and powerful technology and tools to help students’ needs.
