David is a managing director at TM Capital, one of Oaklins’ US member firms. Over three decades, he has developed a significant practice in representing many well-respected middle-market private equity firms regarding portfolio company divestitures. He is a frequent panel speaker at middle-market M&A industry conferences. While David primarily focuses on sell-side M&A and equity recapitalizations, he has a track record of success working in lender-driven situations and in debt transactions. With sector experience spanning consumer, building products, distribution, industrials and business services, he has particular expertise in rental equipment and dealers (where he is a frequent industry speaker), repair and inspection-based facilities services, outdoor and consumer-driven building products, technical and home textiles, and marine products. Recent transactions include multiple acquisition financings supporting door, window and bath remodeler West Shore Home; the sale of a private equity-owned Canadian commercial door and security hardware distributor to a Canadian private equity group; the sale of New York-based rental equipment company Pride Equipment to Ashtead/Sunbelt; the sale of outdoor architectural products and installation company Walpole Outdoors to a private equity group; the sale of private equity-backed fire and life safety business services provider Summit Companies to a private equity group; the sale of a private equity-backed Culligan water filtration dealer network to Culligan; and the sale of private equity-owned home textile producers Spencer Home (decorative pillows) to Surefit and Berkshire Blanket (fleece blankets) to China-based SUMEC.
Prior to joining the firm in 2016, David was a managing director at Brookwood Associates, where for over a decade he focused primarily on middle-market M&A advisory services. Previously, he was a founding partner at Equity Capital Partners, a lower-market committed private equity fund, and a director at Prudential Securities Investment Banking, where he spearheaded the growth of Prudential’s successful consumer and industrials practice. David has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
