James is a Director with Oaklins Cavendish, one of Oaklins member firms in the UK. James has completed nineteen transactions since joining the firm in 2011, with over two thirds of these companies being sold to an overseas purchaser.
James’ has a particular focus on Logistics, Industrials and Media & Digital transactions at Cavendish.
James led the sale of Cadogan Tate, the premium specialist logistics group offering packing, moving, shipping, storage and insurance for fine art and other valuable possessions, on its sale to H2 Equity Partners in 2018. James also led the sale of Sterling Relocation, Europe’s largest independent relocation company, to Unigroup, Inc, the largest household goods moving company in the USA.
Prior to Oaklins Cavendish, James worked on 20 deals covering technology, insurance, property repair and aerospace and defence in two and a half years at a regional corporate finance boutique.
James also assisted in the appraisal of possible investment opportunities for a venture capital fund run by a high net worth individual who had previously invented capacitive touch sensing technology for consumer applications such as the iPhone, giving him a unique insight into buy side investment processes.
James is a chartered accountant by background, qualifying at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2008. James graduated with a first class Economics degree from Southampton University in 2005, winning the Pearce and Rowan Prize for best final examination performance and achieving a shortlisting in the national finals of The SET Economics Student of the Year Award.
