Circle K has acquired Hanex

Hanex has been acquired by Circle K. This transaction highlights a key aspect of Circle K’s growth strategy, aimed at expanding its fuel station network across the Netherlands.

Circle K is a US-based independent refueling station operator with more than 16,700 locations. The company is known for its investments in modern concepts, including innovative stores, food, drinks, car wash facilities and initiatives aimed at expanding electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Owned by the publicly listed Canadian company Alimentation Couche-Tard, Circle K has grown into a global brand, operating in over 20 countries.

Hanex specializes in operating manned refueling stations across the Netherlands. In addition to selling fuels, the company offers services such as car wash facilities. Hanex also has an electric vehicle charging station at one of its locations, marking its first steps toward supporting sustainable mobility solutions.

Oaklins’ team in the Netherlands served as the exclusive M&A buy-side advisor to Circle K in its acquisition of Hanex. This transaction highlights the team’s strong track record and expertise in (renewable) energy and (alternative) fuels.
