Hærup Biogas has been acquired by Gasum
Gasum has entered the Danish biogas market with its acquisition of all shares in Hærup Biogas, which owns and operates a biogas plant in the northern part of mainland Denmark.
Hærup Biogas was designed to supply the nearby district heating plant in Klejtrup. Founded in 2018, the plant has the capacity to produce 70 GWh of biogas per year. Hærup Biogas plans to establish a biogas upgrading facility to produce biomethane for injection into the gas grid, maximizing its existing production capacity. The new ownership will provide the financial resources and expertise necessary to support this development.
Founded in 1994, Gasum is a Nordic energy company specializing in cleaner energy and energy market services. Gasum operates 17 biogas plants and an extensive network of gas filling stations across Finland, Sweden and Norway. It is dedicated to promoting a circular economy and reducing carbon emissions through its comprehensive energy solutions. The acquisition of Hærup Biogas marks Gasum’s first biogas plant in Denmark, in line with its strategic goal to increase biogas production and geographical footprint.
Hærup Biogas is owned and developed by two private investors: John Jensen, a local farmer who supplies biomass to the plant, and Martin Rasmussen, a local businessman.
