El Refugio has been acquired by a local potato producer
The private shareholders of El Refugio have sold the property to a local producer. The transaction includes the shares of Colún and the real estate assets, which include approximately 1,600 cows, two rotating milking parlors, 20 houses (including the 700 m² main house) and a nine-hole golf course.
El Refugio is a 1,300-hectare dairy farm located in the south of Chile, with the appropriate climate, rain rate and temperature to produce milk. The region is also known for its unparalleled landscapes and a wide variety of animals and plants. The company owns approximately 2.2% of the shares of the largest dairy company in Chile, Colún. As part of the cooperative, these shares allow El Refugio to sell all its milk production, estimated at 14 million liters in 2018, to Colún.
Oaklins’ team in Chile acted as advisor to the seller in this transaction.
