Danish and European M&A markets continue on a high activity level in the second quarter of 2022, despite market uncertainties.

Summary

The M&A activity in Q1 2022 showed an attractive activity level after the record-breaking 2021. The number of transactions in Q2 2022 show an increase in both Denmark and Europe.

In Denmark, the second quarter of the year offered a record high level for Danish company sales with quite an increase compared to the first quarter of the year. The numbers of transactions in Q2 2022 show promising signs that 2022 as a whole can become another strong year.

When looking at the European M&A-market, the level of activity in Q2 2022 also reflects a high activity level. The number of transactions is still at a high level and on par with Q1 2022. The high activity level in Denmark and most of Europe reflects a generally strong and confident market, despite uncertainties including supply chain challenges, inflation and geopolitical instability.

Business owners still very much have their sights set on growth and we see M&A play a leading role in this strategy, even during the current market and geopolitical uncertainties in Europe. The M&A market is displaying a stronger resilience than we had dared to hope for. Halfway through the year it is difficult to make predictions for 2022 as a whole, but we expect 2022 to be another strong year. DANIEL SAND – MANAGING PARTNER, OAKLINS DENMARK
