Danish large-scale biogas plant sold to supplier association and Skovgaard Energy

Introduction

Maabjerg Energy Center Holding (MEC-Biogas), a Danish large-scale industrial biogas plant, has been sold by Struer Energi and Vestforsyning to Måbjerg Biogas Leverandørforening and Skovgaard Energy.

About Maabjerg Energy Center (MEC-Biogas)

MEC-Biogas, headquartered in Holstebro, Denmark, represents one of Denmark’s pioneering industrial biogas facilities, effectively transforming approximately 500,000 tons of manure annually into raw biogas for the generation of power and heat.

Struer Energi and Vestforsyning see great potential with the buyer’s commitment to acquiring and investing a substantial amount into developing MEC-Biogas plant.

About Måbjerg Biogas Leverandørforening

Måbjerg Biogas Leverandørforening is a supplier association consisting of 135 farmers, and Skovgaard Energy is a renewable energy company that develops solar power, power-to-X, biogas and more. With the transaction, Måbjerg Biogas Leverandørforening and Skovgaard Energy aim to further developing the plant including injecting up to approximately 30 million normal cubic meters of upgraded biogas into the gas.
