Investment in agri-tech scale-up Protifarm
Oaklins supports Protifarm, a Dutch agri-tech leader, in teaming up with a group of investors led by the East Netherlands Development Agency (Oost NL), that focuses its activities on strengthening and stimulating the economy of the provinces of Gelderland and Overijssel, the Netherlands.
As global pioneer, Protifarm produces functional and sustainable ingredients for the food industry from food-grade farmed insects. The company has a leading position in a fast-growing industry and responds to the urgent need for a healthy lifestyle and to reduce global footprint. Due to population growth and increased prosperity, there is a strong increase in demand for highly nutritious functional ingredients. With the millions of funding that Oost NL and the other investors provide, Protifarm is able to further accelerate its growth and to expand its processing capacity.

An alternative that can substitute vegetables and meat
With AdalbaPro, Protifarm is feeding the world today and nourishing the world of tomorrow. The ingredients obtained from AdalbaPro are not only sustainable, but also highly nourishing. Protifarm extracts important nutrients from the insect and turns them into powders and textured products. Accelerating the protein transition
With the funding of Oost NL and the other investors, Protifarm can move forward. Mohrmann: “We can now expand our capacity and optimize our breeding and rearing processes.
