Strong underlying dynamics and trends such as service digitalization, greater awareness regarding sustainability, and more attention being paid to a safe and healthy environment have all played a part. As Arjen Kostelijk, Oaklins’ TIC specialist, reveals, one result of this has been a notable amount of M&A activity, especially in the second half of this year. We delve into the relevant transactions completed in three major sub-sectors, and assess the role of strategic and private equity buyers in recent TIC deals.

In addition, we take a look at where the market seems to be heading in the future, and our case study breaks down the acquisition of SkyeTec, a US-based provider of energy ratings and indoor environmental consulting services, by Gallant Capital Partners.

We also include a summary of market multiples and valuation trends from the year.
