Sentient Vision Systems has been acquired by Shield AI
Sentient Vision Systems has been acquired by global defense technology company Shield AI.
Sentient specializes in passive optical detection using wide-area motion imagery. Its artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled sensor edge solutions improve the detection and identification of small objects on land, in the air and at sea. With over 20 years of experience in moving target indication, AI computer vision and machine learning, Sentient has deployed thousands of systems worldwide in fields such as intelligence, surveillance and search and rescue. These solutions enhance situational awareness, support real-time decision-making and have contributed to saving lives.
Founded in 2015, Shield AI is a venture-backed defense technology company with a mission to protect service members and civilians through intelligent systems. To achieve this, Shield AI is developing the world’s best AI pilot. Its AI pilot, Hivemind, has flown jets (F-16 and MQM-178 Firejet), a vertical takeoff and landing drone (MQ-35 V-BAT) and three quadcopters (Nova, Nova 2 and iPRD). The company has offices in San Diego, Dallas and Washington, D.C. in the USA, as well as internationally. Shield AI’s products and personnel are currently deployed in the field, actively supporting operations with the US Department of Defense and allied nations.
Oaklins’ team in Australia acted as the corporate advisor to Sentient on its sale to Shield AI. The team has had a longstanding working relationship with Sentient and its founder, Paul Boxer, and led a comprehensive global sale process in collaboration with Oaklins Janes Capital in Irvine, USA, and Oaklins’ team in France. This resulted in a successful outcome for the shareholders and provides an opportunity for the company to continue its global growth and innovation under the leadership of Sentient CEO Mark Palmer, with the support of one of the world’s leading defense technology companies, Shield AI.
