TDK Corporation has acquired Hutchinson Technology for US$245.1 million.
TDK Corporation is a Japanese multinational electronics company that manufactures electronic materials, electronic components and recording and data-storage media. Through its Milpitas, California-based subsidiary Headway Technologies, Inc., TDK Corporation designs and manufactures recording heads for high performance hard disk drives.
Hutchinson Technology is a designer and manufacturer of precision components for electronic devices, specializing in suspension assemblies for hard disk drives (HDD). It sells suspension assemblies primarily to HDD original equipment manufacturers. The company is headquartered in Hutchinson, Minnesota, with additional operations in Wisconsin (USA) and Thailand.
