Kent County Crematorium Plc has been acquired by Westerleigh Group Limited
The Board of Kent County Crematorium Plc (KCC) has announced the sale of the company to Westerleigh Group Limited (Westerleigh) for an undisclosed consideration.
KCC plc was established in 1934 and is the owner and operator of two crematoria in Charing and Barham in Kent, where over 3,500 cremations are conducted each year. Both Charing and Barham benefit from well-established grounds with beautiful and tranquil gardens of remembrance and a range of memorials to those who have been cremated there.
Westerleigh Group owns and operates crematoria and cemeteries. The firm offers planning, design, construction, refurbishment, facilities management and customer services. It was founded in 1991 and is headquartered in Westerleigh, UK.
Oaklins Cavendish, based in the UK, advised the seller in this transaction. Although unlisted, KCC’s plc status meant that any acquisition of the company was governed by the Panel on Takeovers and Mergers. The UK team therefore, acted as Rule 3 Advisor under the Takeover Code to the Board of KCC in relation to the offer, managing a tightly controlled competitive process involving strategic and financial buyers, with Westerleigh emerging as the preferred bidder.
