MEC-Biogas has been acquired by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners

Maabjerg Energy Center Holding (MEC-Biogas), a leading Danish large-scale biogas plant owned by Struer Energi and Vestforsyning, has been sold to Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) to create a powerhouse for sustainable bioenergy.

Headquartered in Holstebro, Maabjerg Energy Center Holding (MEC-Biogas) is a Danish large-scale industrial biogas plant. MEC-Biogas represents one of Denmark’s pioneering industrial biogas facilities, effectively transforming approximately 500,000 tons of manure annually into raw biogas for the generation of power and heat.

CIP is the world’s largest dedicated fund manager within the greenfield renewable energy investments.

Struer Energi and Vestforsyning are municipality-owned utility companies.

Oaklins’ team in Denmark was engaged by the owners of MEC-Biogas as strategic and financial advisor in this transaction.
