Infranode has agreed to acquire a 49% stake in the two biogas plants Thorsø Biogas Anlæg and Foersom Bioenergi
Infranode AB has agreed to acquire a 49% stake in the two biogas plants Thorsø Biogas Anlæg and Foersom Bioenergi. The acquisition marks Infranode’s first entry into the biogas sector, representing a new strategic direction in line with the fund’s focus on sustainable infrastructure investments. The new partnership with Renegas enables a significant expansion plan for the two plants and positions Renegas as a platform for acquiring additional biogas plants.
Infranode, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, is a long-term infrastructure investor with a particular focus on the Nordic countries. Infranode invests in energy and renewables, digital infrastructure, transport and social infrastructure. Infranode manages approximately US$2 billion in committed capital on behalf of its institutional investors.
Foersom Bioenergi, located near Tarm, Denmark, is a greenfield biogas plant developed by Renegas. The plant produced its first gas in December 2022 and aims to be the first Danish biogas plant to operate without subsidies. Thorsø Biogas, located between Silkeborg and Randers, Denmark, is a brownfield plant initially developed in 1994 and continuously updated since then. With the new partnership, Renegas is now able to realize a significant expansion plan for its two plants, aiming to double their capacity by 2026 from the current 160 GWh/year.
Renegas is a Danish group that owns and operates biogas plants in addition to providing services throughout the value chain including project development, engineering, and gas and certificates trading.
