Irajá Guimarães


Irajá is a partner at Olimpia Partners, one of Oaklins’ member firms in Brazil. With over 20 years of experience in banking, he has participated in numerous transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, buy-outs and debt and equity offerings across several industries. Notable transactions include the acquisition of a controlling stake in Vallée by Merck Animal Health, the largest acquisition in the Brazilian animal health industry; the sale of AD Corretora de Seguros, one of the biggest privately-held insurance brokers in Brazil, to Marsh & McLennan Companies; and the sale of Brazilian health insurance company Careplus to Bupa, the global UK-based health insurer.

Prior to joining Olimpia Partners in 2009, Irajá was an executive director at Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for covering financial institutions and private equity firms in Brazil. Previously, he spent nine years at Merrill Lynch, during which time he worked in both São Paulo and New York. Irajá began his career as a corporate credit analyst at Citibank. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Universidade de São Paulo (USP).
