Nextalia has acquired a majority stake in Witapp
September 2026 — Nextalia SGR S.p.A. has acquired a majority stake in Witapp S.r.l., an Italian company specializing in software development for the digitization of healthcare infrastructure. The acquisition strengthens Nextalia’s track record in technology companies serving the public sector and supports its strategy of investing in businesses operating at the intersection of healthcare digitization and the modernization of public services.
Nextalia is an Italian private equity investment firm. Through its Nextalia Flexible Capital fund, the firm invests in Italian companies with growth and value creation potential across multiple sectors.
Witapp is an Italian healthtech company developing proprietary software-enabled solutions that support the digital transformation of healthcare infrastructure. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Florence, the company offers a broad, modular suite of software solutions covering clinical and diagnostic workflow optimization; hospital drug logistics; remote and territorial care management; healthcare data integration and interoperability; and clinical and operational decision-support applications. Witapp operates primarily through long-term public-sector contracts with healthcare institutions throughout Italy and benefits from a significant contracted backlog, providing strong visibility on future revenues. Its vendor-agnostic and interoperable architecture is designed to integrate with existing hospital and regional healthcare information systems and address mission-critical healthcare digitization needs.
The sellers comprised founder Giovanni Pugliese and other Witapp shareholders. As part of the transaction, the founder and existing shareholders reinvested alongside Nextalia and retained a significant minority stake in the company. Giovanni Pugliese continues as CEO.
