Brij Gopal Construction Company has raised financing
October 2025 — Brij Gopal Construction Company has raised financing to support its participation in a highly attractive land auction. The highway developer based in northern India had successfully won a bid to participate in the land auction but faced a funding shortfall of approximately US$23 million. Most available cash flows from its project special purpose vehicles (SPVs) had already been securitized, leaving limited capacity to raise additional financing against project cash flows. Certain state highway annuities remained unlevered, but adverse clauses in the concession agreements and substantial delays in receiving annuity payments had made traditional lenders reluctant to participate. More critically, the financing needed to be completed within 15 days of the initial enquiry to meet the bid timeline.
Incorporated in 2009, Brij Gopal Construction Company is led by promoters with more than 20 years of experience in highways and civil infrastructure. It is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor and concessionaire specializing in roads and highways, including hybrid annuity model (HAM) and EPC projects, as well as sewerage, water supply, stormwater and urban infrastructure. Its clients include the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), public works departments (PWDs), Indian Railways, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and municipal corporations.
Our role in the transaction
Oaklins’ team in India delivered a solution within 15 days of engagement through a dual-layer financing structure, partly at the EPC holding company level and partly against an unlevered state HAM project. The structure was supported by strong group sponsorship, liquidity support and visible cash flow coverage, enabling a sub-10% internal rate of return (IRR) for the incoming capital provider. The transaction demonstrates Oaklins’ ability to deliver complex and time-critical financing solutions through its structuring expertise, credibility and deep relationships with leading capital providers.
