Genshu (James) is a partner at Oaklins Maxus Corporate Advisory in Japan. He has 24 years of experience in investment banking, including 21 years focused on cross-border M&A, primarily on large-scale transactions involving Japanese companies.
James joined Oaklins Maxus Corporate Advisory in 2026. Previously, he had spent five years with several venture companies as CFO, the head of business development and as a capital raising advisor. He began his investment banking career at Salomon Brothers in Tokyo within the financial institutions group. He later joined Salomon Smith Barney in New York, where he worked in the domestic M&A group, and subsequently held positions at UBS, Morgan Stanley, Barclays, Mizuho and SMBC Nikko. James has a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
