Speakers’ bios

Juan Pablo Bayter is the chairman of Oaklins International, and a partner and co-founder of Oaklins Axia in Colombia. With almost 30 years of investment banking experience in Latin America and Europe, he has led M&A, capital raising, corporate finance and project finance transactions worth more than US$26 billion. Juan Pablo has broad industry experience, with particular expertise in the energy, IT, financial services, agriculture and real estate sectors. Key clients he has recently advised include Atlas Renewable Energy, a leading global renewable energy company; HIG, a global private equity fund; and PSP, one of the largest Canadian pension funds.

Roger Lee is head of equity strategy at Oaklins Cavendish, one of Oaklins’ member firms in the UK. He has been in the equity market for almost 30 years, having started his broking career with Cazenove & Co and subsequently worked at HSBC James Capel, JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank. He has covered UK, European and US equities and serviced clients in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Frank de Hek is a managing partner at Oaklins Netherlands. He has 18 years of experience in advising clients in M&A, and distinguishes himself by making well-thought-through equity story lines and strong auction-style sale processes. His key areas of expertise are in private equity, agriculture/horticulture, energy transition, automotive and paper & packaging. Blue-chip clients he has advised include ING Bank, Total Energies and Horticoop, as well as many entrepreneurs and private equity firms.

Joanna Stone is a partner at Oaklins DeSilva+Phillips in New York and leads the TMT team. She also serves on Oaklins International’s executive committee as vice president of the organization for North America. Joanna has worked in the broader media and technology industry for over 20 years, and has been involved in dozens of transactions on both the sell-side and buy-side. Notable recent transactions include representing Sling in its sale to Toast, advising ShareDo on its sale to Clio, Hay House on its sale to Penguin Random House, Workman Publishing on its sale to Hachette and supporting the acquisition of Netmaster Holdings Limited (CaseLines) by Thomson Reuters Corporation.

Bas Stoetzer is a partner and co-founder of Oaklins Debt Advisory, part of Oaklins Netherlands. He has more than 25 years’ experience in arranging, structuring and negotiating debt packages. Notable transactions include raising the acquisition finance for a consortium consisting of Gilde Buy Out Partners, Gilde Healthcare Partners and Quadrum Capital to support their joint acquisition of ACE Pharmaceuticals; arranging the refinancing for HC Partners to facilitate the acquisition of additional dental practices to form a leading group in the dental market in the Netherlands; and supporting several high-net-worth individuals with dividend recapitalizations, such as Intergrin.
