Valid’s payment division in Colombia has been acquired by Stefanini Group
May 2025 — Valid has successfully completed the sale of its payment division in Colombia to Grupo Topaz, part of the Stefanini Group. This strategic transaction allows Valid to further strengthen and accelerate the growth of its identification and mobile connectivity divisions across Latin America.
Established in 2015, the payment division sold by Valid is based in Bogotá, Colombia, and specializes in software development for payment and transactional products. Its portfolio includes digital wallets, payment solutions and onboarding and identity verification systems. In addition, it provides operations and maintenance services under a SaaS model as a complementary offering. With a team of over 200 employees, the division serves a select group of clients across the banking, transportation and retail sectors.
Stefanini Group is a Brazilian multinational technology company that provides a wide range of IT services, including consulting, application development, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data and analytics, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, business process outsourcing (BPO) and digital workplace solutions. The company operates in over 40 countries worldwide, serving clients across various industries.
Based in Brazil, Valid is a multinational technology and security solutions provider specializing in secure identification and payment solutions for individuals, mobility and transactions. The company operates across a range of sectors, including ID and digital government, banking and payments and trusted connectivity. Its portfolio includes smart cards, SIM cards including eSIMs, IoT connectivity, digital identity solutions and secure document issuance. With over 65 years of experience, Valid has a presence in more than 15 countries worldwide and is publicly traded on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
Our role in the transaction
Oaklins’ team in Colombia acted as the exclusive financial advisor to the seller in this transaction, working closely with colleagues from Oaklins Olimpia Partners in Brazil, particularly to identify a buyer with a deep understanding of both the product and its development roadmap. The collaboration between the Colombian and Brazilian teams ensured a targeted, efficient process and a successful outcome for the client.
