Managing Partner

João is a managing partner and co-founder of Oaklins Portugal, with more than 25 years’ experience in financial advisory, M&A and debt advisory. He has advised clients across a broad range of industries, notably in industrials and capital goods, construction and engineering services, energy and renewables, consumer goods and retail, food and beverage, automotive, business services and IT. Recent transactions include the acquisition of Grupo IGM, a leading Iberian manufacturer of isothermal solutions, and Imperalum, a bituminous waterproofing and isolation products leader in the Portuguese market, by Selena Group, a global construction chemicals company; the investment of Growth Capital Partners in Lomboser, a company focused on turnkey industrial and metal structure constructions; the sale of a majority stake in TheNativeFoods, a Portuguese producer and distributor of açaí-based frozen fruit products, to HCapital Partners; the divestiture of Energie, a leading Portuguese manufacturer of heat pump solutions, to Horizon Equity Partners; the sale of Quantal, a precision metalworking company, by HCapital to Horizon Equity Partners; the sale of Grupo Electrofer, a specialist in metal construction and surface treatment, to Metalogalva; the acquisition of Solzaima, a leading manufacturer of eco-friendly wood-burning stoves, by NIBE Industrier; the sale of a majority stake in Ecocompósitos, Portugal’s national leader in pool products and composites, to Crest Capital Partners; the sale of Bio2, one of Portugal’s largest pet product wholesalers, to Alliando Group; the acquisition of Frezite Group, a leading PCD tool manufacturer, by Sandvik; the MBI of Nexxpro, a Portuguese motorcycle helmet manufacturer, alongside ActiveCap PE; and the shareholder restructuring of Sanindusa, a leading Portuguese sanitary equipment group, alongside Iberis Capital.

Prior to founding Oaklins Portugal, João was a founding partner at ASK Group, a Portuguese investment banking firm, where he spent 11 years as head of the corporate finance department. Previously, he worked in international and national investment banks. João has a degree in business management from ISCTE.
