Roadside Real Estate has acquired Gardner Retail
February 2026 — Roadside Real Estate plc has acquired Gardner Retail Ltd. for US$23.5 million. The transaction marks the start of a new chapter in the execution of Roadside’s strategy to build a high-quality portfolio of modern roadside retail assets and represents a significant step in enhancing its competitive position.
Roadside is a London-listed business focused on acquiring, owning and operating multi-fuel roadside destinations with place-based retail infrastructure. The company focuses on acquiring and developing sites where it can deliver its convenience offering to consumers. Its 20 sites feature a mix of drive-through facilities, trade counters, convenience food, leisure, self-storage, last-mile logistics, petrol filling stations and ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities.
One of the largest independent, privately owned petrol forecourt retailers in Southwest England, Gardner has been serving the needs of Gloucestershire for nearly 60 years. The group’s portfolio consists of six petrol forecourts, which collectively sell around 22 million liters of fuel per year. Its award-winning sites employ approximately 85 people, many of whom have worked with the Gardner family for several decades.
Our role in the transaction
Oaklins Cavendish, one of Oaklins’ member firms in the UK, supported Roadside across the full range of its corporate activity over six months. On the acquisition side, the team advised on four transactions, including the acquisition of Gardner and a further freehold petrol filling station, with a combined value of approximately US$82.9 million. Alongside this, Oaklins Cavendish raised around US$28 million in new equity and its debt advisory team arranged approximately US$47 million of new facilities, including a US$34 million HSBC revolving credit facility with a US$13.5 million accordion, providing the funding structure to support the next phase of growth.
