In 2012, Köhlerwoodcap and Arie Romijn together acquired Vawa from Den Braven Sealants, a global manufacturer of high-quality sealants. This transaction makes a first step in a buy-and-build strategy in order to increase revenues substantially.
Vawa is a wholesaler engaged in sales of many kinds of sealants, adhesives, glazing materials, glazing beads, primers and cleaners, aerosols. The company’s clients are primarily active in the construction, industrial and DIY markets.
Oaklins' team in the Netherlands advised the buyer in this transaction. The team's specialist commented: “The construction-related sectors are experiencing difficult market conditions which provide opportunities for consolidation. Mergers and acquisitions create cost savings in the back office and provide other economies of scale advantages. Köhlerwoodcap is perfectly positioned for this consolidation and has made a good start with acquiring the remaining stake in Vawa."
