Diogo is a partner and co-founder of Monsanto Capital, Oaklins’ member firm in Portugal. With more than 18 years’ experience in corporate finance and transformation processes in the Portuguese mid-market, Diogo has worked with a number of clients across various industries on M&A and debt raising projects, and has advised on several complex turnarounds. With expertise in retail & consumer goods, business services, food & beverage, industrial & capital goods and healthcare, notable clients include Janz, Scame and Ascendum, the latter being the leading heavy distribution equipment company in Portugal with a worldwide partnership with Volvo Group. Recent transactions include the acquisition of Janz, a Portuguese player specialized in manufacturing and distributing residential water meters, by SIT, a multinational listed on the Italian Stock Exchange that specializes in the control of environmental conditions and consumption measurements; the acquisition by Scame, a manufacturer of components and systems for electrical installations, of Magnum Cap, a manufacturer of EV chargers; the buy-out of LeYa Group, one of the main educational publishers in Portugal and postgraduate e-learning companies in Brazil, by private equity fund Atena Capital Partners together with the group’s management team; and the sale of a Portuguese clinical analysis operator to Synlab Group, a renowned global operator in the healthcare sector.
Before founding Monsanto Capital, Diogo was director of the corporate finance department at ASK Group, having previously worked at KPMG and Deloitte. He has an MBA from IESE, a master's in finance from ISCTE and a degree in economics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
