Roadside Real Estate has acquired D.A. Roberts Fuels

June 2026 — Whitchurch-based D.A. Roberts Fuels Ltd., which was owned by Dave Roberts for 57 years, has been acquired by Roadside Real Estate plc. The acquisition is a strategic purchase for Roadside, a new entrant in the forecourt sector, as it continues to pursue its ambition to build a large-scale portfolio of modern energy forecourt and roadside retail assets across the UK.

Roadside is a London-listed business focused on acquiring, owning and operating multi-fuel roadside destinations with place-based retail infrastructure. The company focuses on acquiring and developing sites where it can deliver its convenience offering to consumers. Its 20 sites feature a mix of drive-through facilities, trade counters, convenience food, leisure, self-storage, last-mile logistics, petrol filling stations and ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities.

D.A. Roberts includes an Essar-branded petrol filling station, a Ministry of Transport (MOT) testing garage and a bulk fuel operation with 24 trucks delivering more than 81 million liters per year to hauliers, farmers, businesses and homes. The company employs over 50 people.

Our role in the transaction

Oaklins Cavendish, one of Oaklins’ member firms in the UK, supported Roadside across the full range of its corporate activity over six months. On the acquisition side, the team advised on four transactions, including the acquisition of D.A. Roberts and a further freehold petrol filling station, with a combined value of approximately US$82.9 million. Alongside this, Oaklins Cavendish raised around US$28 million in new equity and its debt advisory team arranged approximately US$47 million of new facilities, including a US$34 million HSBC revolving credit facility with a US$13.5 million accordion, providing the funding structure to support the next phase of growth.

“The Gardner acquisition marked the first significant milestone in our UK energy forecourt roll-up strategy and has been quickly followed by further transactions, including D.A. Roberts and Hoch Group, as we build momentum in the sector. Over the past six months, Oaklins Cavendish has supported Roadside across the full range of its corporate activity, culminating in advising the group on our US$28 million equity raise and supporting us in securing US$47 million of new debt facilities, which provided both funding for these transactions and capacity for future growth. Through the fundraising, we are delighted to have welcomed new shareholders and remain grateful for the continued support of our existing investors as we advance this strategy.”
