DHL Global Forwarding has sold its specialized fine art logistics business to MTAB AB
Following a review of the current business environment, DHL Global Forwarding has decided to divest its Norwegian fine art business to MTAB.
DHL Global Forwarding is part of the DHL Group, a leading global logistics company, offering a comprehensive range of services that include parcel delivery, international express, freight transportation, e-commerce shipping and fulfillment, and advanced supply chain management. DHL Global Forwarding’s fine art business unit is a premium provider of full-service door-to-door logistics and storage solutions tailored to the fine art industry. It is experienced in domestic and international art transportation, packaging solutions, art storage, art installation and conservation services. Through its established network of international partners, including organizations specialized in fine art logistics such as ICEFAT and ARTIM, the business provides seamless coordination and handling of logistics projects and art exhibitions across the globe. Customers include major museums, galleries, private collectors and corporate clients.
MTAB AB is a leading Nordic player in specialized logistics and the handling of valuable or sensitive objects and technical equipment. With more than 50 years of experience in the transportation of sensitive products requiring careful handling, the company has built a leading position in the Nordics, with operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. This acquisition is a major step in MTAB’s ambition to build a strong market position as the Nordic market leader and full-service supplier in logistics services to customers in the fine art sector.
“We are pleased to announce the acquisition of DHL’s fine art business in Norway. With our extensive experience of over 50 years in fine art logistics and strong collaborations in the art, gallery and museum sector, we are well-positioned to continue developing the business and providing top-quality service to our customers,” said Simon Fors, managing director of MTAB AB.
DHL Global Forwarding will maintain its presence in Norway, ensuring uninterrupted transport and logistics solutions for customers outside the fine art business. The acquisition will not impact these customers who will continue to receive high-quality logistics and transport services from DHL Global Forwarding.
Mona Juell, managing director at DHL Global Forwarding in Norway, said: “In MTAB we have found a highly capable and experienced partner with a customer- and people-centric corporate culture. We are confident that MTAB’s expertise and strong industry collaborations will take the fine art business to new heights.”
Oaklins’ team in Norway acted as the exclusive financial advisor to DHL Global Forwarding in this transaction, with the support of colleagues from Oaklins’ German team.
