September 2026 — Karob Instrument, Inc. has been acquired by an investment group led by Mark Izzo, CEO of EMT Metals, bringing Karob and EMT under common ownership. This partnership advances EMT’s strategy to expand its integrated manufacturing platform to support leading aerospace and defense (A&D) and technology original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) at the scale and pace they demand
Karob is a family-owned precision machining manufacturer based in Ocala, Florida, with more than 50 years of experience producing high-quality custom components for customers in aerospace, including Gulfstream Aerospace, and other industries. The company specializes in precision computer numerical control (CNC) machining, including turning, milling up to five-axis, hardware installation, assembly and specialized fulfillment. It delivers both short-run and high-volume production with a focus on precision, quality and efficiency. Karob operates from a lean facility equipped with an extensive range of advanced machining centers and quality control technology.
EMT is a leading metal fabricator and manufacturer of precision-machined components serving global OEM partners across multiple end markets, including A&D, thermal management, power distribution and high-tech industrials. EMT operates a three-facility platform anchored by a 130-machine, vertically integrated equipment lineup spanning CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, progressive stamping and assembly operations, producing over 1,100 mission-critical stock-keeping units (SKUs) annually. All business units maintain ISO 9001, AS9100D, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), System for Award Management (SAM) and Federal Firearms License (FFL) certifications.
Our role in the transaction
The engagement originated from a valuation assignment completed by an Oaklins-affiliated valuation practice in connection with Karob’s shareholders’ ownership planning. Based on this experience and the team’s industry knowledge, the shareholders retained Oaklins Heritage in Jacksonville, USA, as their exclusive financial advisor. Oaklins led a comprehensive sale process, developing a broad buyer universe that included both platform investors and strategic add-on acquirors, creating competitive tension among multiple bidders. Through targeted buyer outreach, transaction structuring advice and negotiation support, Oaklins helped the shareholders exceed their value expectations and achieve a transaction value approximately 60% higher than an offer presented before the formal sale process was launched, while identifying a partner aligned with the company’s culture, employees and long-term objectives.
