Groupe Thomas Plants has acquired Tecnosem, welcoming Galiena Capital as a majority shareholder
June 2026 — Groupe Thomas Plants has acquired Tecnosem to form Groupe Flore, a new leader in France’s vegetable seedling market. This newly formed group brings together two of the industry’s most complementary players, previously ranked second and third respectively in the French young plant production sector. The combined group operates four production sites across more than 62 hectares in Brittany and southern France, two of the country's principal vegetable-growing regions. Galiena Capital has taken a majority stake in the transaction, while Thomas Plants’ existing shareholders, including Trajan Capital, Financière du Cèdre, Enthéos and Halisol Groupe, have reinvested to retain a minority stake.
Tecnosem is a French producer of vegetable and fruit seedlings for professional growers. Based in Cléder, Brittany, the company operates nearly ten hectares of production facilities, mainly under greenhouses. Tecnosem employs around 30 employees, with its workforce increasing during peak activity periods. The company serves commercial horticultural and market gardening customers across France.
Groupe Thomas Plants is one of France’s leading producers of conventional and organic fruit and vegetable seedlings for agri-food manufacturers and fruit and vegetable growers. With more than 30 years of experience, the company sells over 250 million seedlings annually, including both warm- and cold-weather crops.
Founded in 2009, Galiena Capital is a Paris-based private equity firm that primarily acquires majority stakes in French small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across all sectors. Since its inception, it has deployed more than US$570 million.
Trajan Capital selects, supports and finances talented and ambitious entrepreneurs to acquire SMEs with untapped potential, transform them and accelerate their development to unlock their full value creation potential.
